Background of Recruitment:

In recent years, for the IoT and industrial application spaces, MCU-integrated technology and its application technology have been continuously increasing complexity. Technological trends in the industry change quickly, such as functional enhancements on communication protocols, edge device connection to cloud, over-the-air firmware updates, more robust security, and edge AI integration. Customers expect semiconductor vendors not only to provide MCU hardware and software components, but also to propose solutions that combine hardware and software and to provide technical support suitable for customer systems. At Renesas, it is necessary to further strengthen application engineering (AE) and this position is expected to be one of core AE members for MCU application engineering. For short-term, this position will handle mainly USB relevant application support and for mid- or long-term, broad range of MCU application engineering. In addition, in order to correspond to innovation and technology trends happening overseas, AEs need to be familiar with industry trends and the latest technologies in a timely manner on a global basis. This position will belong to a diverse AE team and is expected to lead AE activities globally. In the future, this position is expected to grow into highly marketable engineers with international capabilities.

Responsibilities:

- Provide support for Renesas customers related to all aspects of MCU and required solutions.
- Design Embedded firmware, application examples and a proof-of-concept solutions.
- Efficient technical support for Renesas marketing/sales team in design activities.
- Be an expert for ARM and proprietary based MCUs, peripheral and embedded design.
- Lead/drive training and evaluation of Renesas solutions with customers and sales team.
- Create and present training material related to embedded applications and solutions.
- Work closely with our core engineering team for specialized technologies to support customer applications and build proof-of-concept solutions.
- Manage technical projects with partners and design houses.

Required Skills and Work Experience:

MUST

- 4+ years of experience in developing ARM and Proprietary MCU-based and embedded products/systems.
- Solid embedded programming experience [using C/C++ language] is a must.
- Good interpersonal communication skills in English and Japanese, agile, proactive, can-do attitude

WANT

- Experience in supporting sales, FAE, and design team to win businesses.
- Design and development of multi-threaded/multi-tasking applications using MCU-based RTOS.
- Board bring-up and debugging for complex MCU based products/systems.
- Good understanding of hardware design and schematic related to microcontroller and peripherals.
- Good understanding of USB in controller hardware, its low-level peripheral driver, Host/Device class middleware stacks (MSC, CDC, HID, etc..)., and application designs

- Communications technologies including Ethernet, CAN/CAN-FD, SPI/QSPI, I2C/I3C, etc..
- Experience in IoT connectivity system integration using wireless communications (Wi-Fi, LTE, BLE, etc..) and network protocols (TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, MQTT, HTTP, etc..)
- Security protocols and secure software design methods.
- Familiarity with Capacitive Touch interface, its PCB design, sensitivity tuning is plus
- Experience with analog system design and knowledge of analog peripherals including delta-sigma ADC is plus
- Machine learning experience is a bonus point.
- Prior experience with Renesas MCUs is plus.

- Global work experience with foreign team members in engineering, product marketing, and business units.
