Renesas Electronics America is seeking a Senior Application Engineer who will work with a team of engineers to develop advanced microcontroller-based solutions.  You will be working on solving technical customer challenges in hardware and firmware with the goal of designing Renesas microcontrollers into customer products.  Understanding customer requirements and applying them to real-life applications using microcontrollers are key to be successful in this position.  

This role will be a full-time position out of Morrisville office in North Carolina.  
 
Responsibilities: 
•    Provide excellent technical support throughout customer design lifecycle
•    Develop embedded applications and reference designs using Renesas microcontrollers
•    Develop supporting technical documents and application notes
•    Create custom solutions, example projects, and proof-of-concept designs to win new business
•    Prepare and document system requirements, design specifications and test plans
•    Prepare and present internal (sales and channel) and external (customer) technical trainings

Requirements: 
•    BSEE or MSEE degree or equivalent
•    5+ years of experience with at least 3 years in embedded firmware development
•    Demonstrated experience in developing with ARM Cortex-M based systems  
•    Expert level C programming skills for low-resource microcontrollers with fundamental knowledge of embedded programming
•    Experience with common protocols on UART, I2C, SPI, USB host/device, Ethernet, DMA, ADC/DACs, timers
•    Experience with RTOS and middleware integration skills for embedded microcontrollers
•    Experience with wired and wireless networking technologies including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/LE, LTE Cat-M1/NB-IoT and common networking stacks including HTTP, TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT with security
•    Skilled in developing applications in embedded graphics, secure bootloaders, cryptography, and key management
•    Hands on experience in board bring-up, testing and debugging skills with microcontroller-based systems
•    Strong interpersonal skills; able to clearly articulate complex technical topics based on sound engineering fundamentals
•    Must be fluent in English

Skills and Experience That Will Elevate You:
•    Demonstrated experience in developing with Renesas microcontrollers and tools  
•    Board level analog and mixed-signal design experience
•    System level design and integration tools including schematic capture and board layout
•    Prior working experience as an AE or FAE in semiconductor industry
