Application Engineering Manager, BMS

 

 

 

You will work in Renesas’s growing Battery Management System (BMS) product line. This position plays a fundamental role in supporting BMS customers at BMIC device and sub-system level for xEV market.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

 

We are looking for a highly motivated, high energy application engineering manager to support Battery Management System (BMS) IC products. Responsibilities include:

 

 

 

Manage applications team that is geographically a technically diverse. Application engineering skillset reporting to this role is broad that includes, but not limited to, analog, digital, mixed signal, power management, HV, LV, signal integrity, power integrity, board design and manufacturing, component selection, board debugging, UI development, FW, SW, embedded design, documentation (applications note, data sheet, Functional Safety document etc.)

 

 

 

Manage chip validation including compliance matrix, block level spec verification, specification limits. Bench validation, road-test, bug root-causing, replication of issues reported by customers, lead failure analysis and issue FA reports.

 

 

 

Board and system level tests (BCI, hot-plug, EMI/EMC testing), fixture development.

 

 

 

Develop automation software (e.g., Python, C++ and LabVIEW) for testing and application support. Assist firmware development by defining and verifying application algorithms.

 

 

 

Be familiar with IP blocks includes ADCs, Amplifiers, regulators, mixed signal IP blocks, wired/wireless communication IP etc. Also, must be comfortable to lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscope, power meters, multi-meters etc.), USB, LIN, CAN, SPI, I2C etc.

 

 

 

Tactical support and close interaction with BMS customers (OEMs, Tier-1, design houses, partners)  to clearly understand key requirements, system specification, and understand their challenges.

 

 

 

Work closely with the marketing and FAE teams to ensure product launches are successful. Develop technical collateral for product launches including demos, datasheet, PRD, application notes and technical training material.

 

 

 

Provide customer support: local, on-site, remote, whatever it takes to delight the customer.

 

 

 

Consider all product requirements such as customers' requirements, battery technologies, digital/analog process technologies, packaging options, design/system constraints, and trade-offs and propose viable system solutions.

 

 

 

Lead and grow application team based on business growth needs and ensure they have the resources and tools necessary to succeed.

 

 

 

Communicate ideas and specifications to internal and external technical audiences and stakeholders.

 

 

 

Demonstrated team player, excellent communication, and leadership skills. Highly motivated, high energy, lead-by-example type of qualities are highly desirable.

 

 

Travel domestically and internationally approximately 15 - 25% to present, defend, and negotiate product specifications.

 

 

 

 

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications

 

BS in Electrical Engineering applications engineering or product definition of BMIC (preferred), precision analog IC or mixed-signal integrated circuits

 

Enjoy analog and mixed signal circuit designs, simulations, build and lab testing.

 

Strong background of analog circuit, mixed signal, and precision analog circuits and board design
