This role is crucial for ensuring that all products and services meet our high standards of quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software quality assurance, test automation, and QA processes, and will have experience working with both manual and automated testing teams, especially within fast-paced, high-tech product environments.
This role will be focused on building, leading, and mentoring a cross-functional QA team, driving testing excellence across all product lines including Metabolic, MSK, Twill Behavioral Health, and mobile app products. The Quality Manager will work closely with the R&D teams and leadership to ensure seamless collaboration and the delivery of high-quality products.
Responsibilities
QA Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and implement the company QA strategy, including both manual and automated testing frameworks, to ensure high-quality product releases across all product lines (Metabolic, MSK, Twill Behavioral Health, Mobile Apps).
- Lead a cross-functional QA team, including manual testers, automation engineers, and performance testers, to ensure the effective execution of testing strategies.
- Set quality goals and KPIs for the teams to measure success and track progress.
Team Management & Development:
- Build, mentor, and manage the QA team, focusing on the continuous development of team members’ skills and career growth.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the QA team.
- Drive hiring and recruitment for the QA team to ensure that the team scales as the R&D organization grows.
Testing Process & Best Practices:
- Establish and enforce best practices for testing methodologies, tools, and processes, ensuring alignment with Agile and DevOps practices.
- Oversee the development and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts for manual and automated testing across all platforms, including mobile apps and backend services.
- Ensure that test coverage is comprehensive, focusing on both functional and non-functional aspects such as performance, security, and usability.
Automation & Tools:
- Drive the adoption and expansion of test automation across the product suite (backend services, mobile apps, and front-end applications), ensuring efficient and scalable testing processes.
- Select and integrate appropriate tools and frameworks for test management, defect tracking, and automation to support the QA efforts.
- Monitor and improve automated test coverage, reducing manual testing efforts where applicable.
Collaboration with R&D Teams:
- Work closely with the development and product teams to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and release retrospectives to ensure smooth delivery cycles and prompt identification and resolution of defects.
- Act as the key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing detailed reports and updates to stakeholders.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure that all products meet the organization’s quality standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA), and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with the compliance and security teams to maintain testing procedures that align with regulatory guidelines and security requirements.
- Drive continuous quality improvements by analyzing defect patterns, root causes, and implementing long-term solutions.
Risk Management & Problem Solving:
- Identify potential risks to product quality early in the development cycle and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Provide leadership in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical issues in production or pre-production environments.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in quality assurance and testing, with at least 4+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong expertise in managing both manual and automated testing teams.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment, ideally within R&D-driven product organizations.
- Proven experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, or similar, and experience in setting up automation frameworks.
- Experience in testing mobile applications (iOS and Android) and backend services is a must.
- Experience working with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, EKS) is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory testing for healthcare or digital health products is a strong advantage (e.g., FDA, HIPAA compliance).
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of software development and testing methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
- Proficiency with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git actions), and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira.).
- Solid understanding of programming languages (Python, JavaScript, Java) and the ability to understand and analyze code.
- Expertise in developing and managing testing frameworks, automation scripts, and performance testing strategies.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities with a focus on collaboration and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence stakeholders and senior management.
