We’re looking for an experienced Editorial Content Marketing Manager who can develop and own a unified editorial strategy across all content touchpoints, from the blog to the marketing site and educational channels. This role will be instrumental in shaping the voice of our brand, ensuring consistency and alignment across all platforms. The ideal candidate will combine creativity with strategic thinking to produce content that not only informs and educates but also engages and inspires our audience. By establishing and maintaining a cohesive content narrative, this person will play a critical role in amplifying brand awareness and fostering deeper connections with our target audience of independent business owners to drive acquisition and strengthen retention.

Here are a few of the things you will do:

  • Content Strategy: Develop a clear content strategy and calendar that cross-functional stakeholders can ladder up to, enabling us to tell one cohesive brand story in the market. This includes defining our content focus areas, the monthly workflow within each focus area, and the resources and stakeholders required to execute.
  • Content Goals & Reporting: Work with cross-functional partners to define content goals that are aligned with company objectives, and effectively communicate the content team’s progress towards these goals with marketing and leadership stakeholders.
  • Content Development: Craft and maintain compelling, high-quality, long-from content that resonates with our target audience, integrates our brand positioning, and, importantly, drives engagement on our blog and website.
  • Thought Leadership: Develop an editorial thought leadership platform, in partnership with Communications team, that elevates the brand as a credible cultural leader for independent businesses, reinforcing our position as an authority in the industry.
  • Editorial Guidelines: Establish and maintain our editorial guidelines that clearly define our editorial tone of voice to reflect our brand positioning, value props, and core values across all content surfaces.
  • Member Champion: Develop our member storytelling program and strategic execution, to ensure the member experience remains central to our content strategy and is leveraged effectively across content teams. This includes content initiatives like customer case studies, product use cases, and integrating the member voice into marketing campaigns.
  • Optimization & Visitor Experience: Generate insights and recommendations for improving content effectiveness and ROI. This includes on-page UX/UI considerations and working with creative and dev partners to improve content experience.
  • Managing Budgets & Vendors: Manage the content budget and external vendor relationships. This includes budget projections during planning, expense management, contracts, renewals, and adjustments.

Here is what we’re looking for in a candidate:

  • Editorial rigor: Exceptional writing and editing skills with a sharp eye for details and a keen understanding of what makes for great long-form content.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically and strategically about content initiatives, aligning them with broader business goals.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with change and ability to pivot quickly in response to new trends, data, or organizational needs.
  • Creativity & Innovation: A strong sense of creativity in content creation and a desire to experiment with new ideas and formats.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing and editing content to ensure it meets high standards of quality and consistency.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and effectively communicate ideas and feedback.
  • Results-Driven: A focus on achieving measurable outcomes, with a strong understanding of content performance metrics and how to drive improvements.
  • Culture Vulture: Curious about emerging trends, competitor behavior, and remaining culturally relevant.

Here is what is needed:

  • 5+ years of content marketing experience, with time spent developing and leading editorial strategy across multiple publishing channels e.g. blog, site, education etc.
  • Demonstrated experience managing internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and agencies
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once
