Near is in need of an innovative and forward-thinking leader who can blend sound business judgment with People function expertise to help propel the company forward and become the clear market leader. In this role, you will partner closely with the executive team and Tech leadership to evolve and develop our global Tech organizations (Product, Engineering, Data Science, etc). Moreover, given that this role supports the largest segment of the employee base, you will also lead a global community of practice focused on continually improving and strengthening the employee experience.
This work includes helping employees connect personally with the purpose and values of Near, defining and communicating a clear and compelling employee value proposition, and using listening mechanisms to gather feedback, address challenges proactively, and measure change over time.
This will be a work-from-office role, based in our state-of-the-art office in Koramangala, Bangalore.
A Day in the Life
- Facilitate strategy, design, and process improvement efforts around employee experience globally.
- Serve as a main point person and trusted partner, and strategic advisor for multiple technical business leaders.
- Partner with Communications and other stakeholders to shape and execute internal communications
- Champion, bolster, and help support the evolution of Near’s culture. This work will range from measuring perceptions, diagnosing challenges, coaching and developing others, and championing specific programs that foster a healthy, collaborative workplace.
- Accountable for managing employee relations issues and developing education and advising leaders to enable them to manage situations with autonomy and confidence. Proactively identify patterns and opportunities for risk mitigation and avoidance.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations with a critical focus on our new and emerging markets.
- Contribute to the development and execution of People strategies, programs, processes and policies across the entire employee lifecycle
- Provide direct management to 1-2 employees and broader influence over People Team stakeholders aligned globally around the support of Tech employees and the employee experience at Near.
- Leverage data to develop insights on how best to accelerate Near operations and build stronger commitment and engagement with employees.
- Maintain an independent perspective that balances in the interests of all of Near’s stakeholders. Use that perspective to engage respectfully and constructively with others to help the company make the right decisions.
- Leads and/or supports defined HR cycle deliverables include performance management; merit and bonus awards; benefits enrolment, benchmarking activities, etc.
What You Bring to the Role
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or Marketing; Master’s degree a plus.
- 12+ years of experience with a startup or technology company.
- Experience working in a global team.
- Track record of progressive responsibility and business results.
- Proven stakeholder management and business literacy skills.
- Customer or Employee Insights Experience (survey design, marketing research, etc.)
- Passionate storyteller and motivator. Someone that knows how to present at the executive level and can get people onboard with their ideas with both a data-driven and passionate approach.
- Program management experience.
- Demonstrated effectiveness collaborating cross-functionally.
- Curiosity and learning agility.
- Ability to toggle between the strategic and operational needs of the business.
- The judgment and confidence to define priorities and independently manage your time and attention across competing demands.
- This role is based in Bangalore and may require occasional travel internationally.
