The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. Individuals will obtain practical experience and receive hands-on training in various disciplines, including the creation of designs and strategies to increase engagement and brand recognition of the American Heart Association’s school-based initiatives, Kids Heart Challenge & American Heart Challenge. - Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
- Internship Duration: 1/16/2024-5/3/2024
- Remote position
- Salary: $23.00 per hour Internship Outcomes: Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

- Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.
- Identifying focused opportunities within our current/core fundraising campaigns and solving the gaps to increase the number of participating schools, students, and donors to drive revenue and mission growth. We are seeking an intern with a passion for and some experience with market analysis and social media platforms to engage and inspire fundraising. Responsibilities Tasks could include things like the following:
- Market Research & Analysis
- Through research and analysis, develop a deep understanding of our business objectives and target audiences.
- Create an overarching communication and marketing plan for our various audiences for Kids Heart Challenge/American Heart Association through persona development.
- Conduct research through focus groups and audience analysis and consolidate into actionable items, reports, and presentations to make recommendations.
- Research potential partner organizations that would enhance and increase our footprint and make outreach to obtain meetings for national team members.
- Perform valid and reliable market research SWOT analysis.
- Community Management & Social Media
- Assist with creating the social media strategy for the Kids Heart Challenge/American Heart Challenge audiences.
- Account management, engagement, and moderation on social platforms Instagram, X, and Facebook. Qualifications
- Candidates who are juniors, seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in marketing, business, or communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Research skills - An ability to do “deep dives” in different products, companies, and sectors, and develop new insights.
- Strong analytical skills, comfortable with qualitative and quantitative data.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking - analyzing and simplifying complex issues; identifying problems and operational bottlenecks; developing potential solutions; and implementing and executing them.
- Adequate knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys, market research, customer interviews, etc.
- A highly motivated self-starter who creates opportunity does not wait for direction, is highly organized, and operates with limited management – this role must be resourceful.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
- Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and professionally in a corporate environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
